Where is GEM® grown?
These gourmet avocados are grown on selected farms across the avocado world including South Africa, Chile and Israel. The nurturing needed during the cultivation of a GEM® means only the most dedicated farmers are chosen to cultivate trees and to harvest these unique fruit. It takes love and care, plus lots of attention to detail, to make sure this golden-flecked fruit arrives on your supermarket shelves in perfect condition, ripe and ready to eat.
How do you prepare a GEM®?
To avoid the dreaded ‘avocado hand’ injury, take extra care. The smoother flesh of a GEM® avocado makes preparing one a little bit easier. Slice the GEM® avocado in half, rolling it slowly as you cut into it, cutting around the stone. Twist the two halves and separate. Use a spoon to remove the stone. Scoop the smooth, creamy flesh out if you need to. Leave in if you’re baking.
How is a GEM® different?
GEM® is truly a unique avocado with a gold-flecked skin and creamy, buttery flesh. It is larger than a regular avocado with a slightly nutty flavour. GEM® is a gourmet avocado.

GEM® avocados contain 460 calories each – these calories come with heaps of other nutrients. For example, GEM® avocados are high in monounsaturated fats. Replacing saturated fats with unsaturated fats such as monounsaturates has been shown to lower cholesterol.
